7/24//07: Selling Cito

Alas, we have made the difficult decision to sell our main breeding stallion Cito. As much as we like him, our program is changing direction slightly and we have decided to continue our breeding with Clues Fantastic Heir. Changing our breeding stallion will change the types of horses we produce dramatically towards more of a halter look and skillset. While we enjoy riding our foundation horses and will keep many of them, the demand for these horses is less than the halter variety.

7/20//07: Land Deal Sealed

Last Friday July 13th (and no we're not superstitious), we closed on another nine acres just north of our current ranch. The nine acres has access from our road, has a water well, a driveway, house pad, and is fenced (barbed wire). With hay prices being high and this land being cleared with good grass, we will use the extra space for longhorn grazing. Turley Ranch now spans 56 acres.

7/11//07: Close on Additional Nine Acres on Friday

We will be closing on another nine acres of property adjacent to the current Turley Ranch on Friday. Intended uses for this property are to expand our longhorn herd and to provide boarders with additional high-quality forage for their horses.

7/10//07: Infrastructure Never Stops

With the newly paved road in, we decided to put in a driveway prior to the May Kentucky Derby Day party. In addition, we added culverts from all barn gutters to ditches that flow to the road and lake. We had all the dirt from the road ditches sloped away from our house and yard done at the same time.
