5//22/05: Arena Additions I had ten loads of sand dumped into the arena today and spent several hours spreading it all. The sand keeps the horses from sliding on the dirt pad. With the weather getting hot, riding under cover is sure nice. An electrician will also be coming out this weekend to put together a bid on getting electrical service in. I must have lights installed before this winter when the days get shorter. |

5/20/05: Babies & Stuff It's been a while since I updated the site but I have been busy! Our San Peppy Daughter - Tazz (San Peppy Perfection) , had a colt on May 11 and three days ago, our Boer goat Pearl had twin doelings. One of our goat kids from March 9th (the buckling) has been sold and we now have a total of three doelings for sale. I will get the pictures up soon. Tomorrow, June Bug and I will be participating in a cutting clinic at the Fort Bend county fairgrounds and hope to learn something. Just yesterday, Nickle was saddled for the first time and was a little "humpy" in the back. He soon got over it and performed nicely in the round pen. I've been bringing in as much concrete and 6" x 8' poles as I can get my hands on so I can begin work fencing the north side of our property. This will open up another 8 acres for our animals. Work should begin soon. Heather's mother will be having surgery this Monday - our thoughts are with her. Heather will be going to visiti her in Oklahoma for a while. Our trainer, Donnie Gertson was admitted to the hospital earlier this week with a leg infection. We wish him well and a speedy recovery. |

5/3/05: Upcoming D-Talk Ranch Playday D-Talk ranch has scheduled a playday for Saturday, May 7th. Turley Ranch has sponsored a belt buckle (for high point) and will also be entering our halter mare Fancy in the adult class. We are spending the week getting her ready for the event. |

5/2/05: Crawfish Boil The sixth annual Turley Ranch crawfish boil was a smashing success - thanks to all who helped pull it off. Mr Gertson's help cooking the crawfish was greatly appreciated and I was happy to see old friends and meet some new ones. The weather held up nicely though it was a little windy. Mr Eppley was gracious enough to grab some video segments of the festivities and email them to me - I have included some of them below. Warning - the videos are large files and might be best viewed over a broadband connection and may require a recent version of Windows Media Player. Dial-up users beware! |
