5/20/04: The Ranch as it Used to Be

It is important to me to look back periodically and take measurement of what has been accomplished, and to assess how much time has been required. In 1999 our ranch looked like this (pic left). There was no house, no fences, no landscaping. When mowing for the first time, we were surprised to find at least 300 tires of varying sizes. Ever try to get rid of tires? Not an easy task. Some areas of property were simply inaccessible because of briar growth and neglect.

Junebug In The Barn

5/14/04: Two Days - Eight More Inches of Rain

We have stalled as many horses as we can to get them out of the weather. Our dirt road has become a mud road and without four wheel drive, it is not traversable. Before this torrential downpour, the ground was already saturated so, for now, our work outside is on hold. Rainfall has been above normal this year to the extreme.

Truck & Trailer

5/12/04: Heading Out With Horse

Several times a week I trailer horses to the D-Talk Ranch for some training diversity and instruction. Heather has recently taken up this ritual on Sundays and is progressing well in the areas of horse handling and horse problem solving.

5/09/04: Website Gets a Facelift

I'm sure it is obvious for those of you who are repeat visitors that change is afoot on our website - I hope you like the new format. Please be tolerant of our mess here since over the next week or so you are likely to encounter rough pages, dead links, are other unusual web phenomena. I should have things running smooth in the next few days or so...If you are inclined, post in the guestbook on how you like (or dislike) the changes.

Building Fence

5/08/04: Fencing the Ranch
If I never put another post in the ground again, it will be too soon. Ahh but how nice it will be to have strong, reliable, safe, fencing for all of our goats and horses. Heather and I managed to get another 160 feet of fence up today.

First Bath

5/07/04: First Bath for the Colt
I could not help but to give the guy a bath - he was an absolute mess. I knew it would be raining all next week but it had to be done. Plus, he needs to have some hands on him and get groomed to help his temperment. First Bath

Magnetic Ranch Sign

5/05/04: Ranch Advertising
Ordered two of these magnetic signs - one for each side of our trailering vehicle.

5/04/04: Cito in Cutting Training

Our stallion, TMS Pobrecito Peppy has been transferred to a professional trainer for 30 days to prepare him for cutting training with Bobby Hunt in Simonton, Texas. Cutting training will then continue for Cito for another 60 days. Bobby Hunt is a renowned cutting horse trainer and is also an NCHA Judge & member of the National Cutting Horse Association Board of Directors.

5/03/04: More Boer Goats

Our doe, Ruby, will give birth soon. More 100% fullblood baby Boer goats on the way!
